The days are certainly getting shorter. The sun sets around 6:30 and rises at about the same time. Right, equal day and night.
But autumn is a beautiful season especially in areas where the leaves change color. A few of the maple trees have turned, though not a lot. I heard that the leaves will change color a little later this year, and peak foliage should still be a third week in October. Nevertheless, all the rain and wind gusts we’ve been having have started blowing down the leaves regardless of whether they have turned or not.
Pre-Halloween is in full swing. I got a head start on candy buying because we seem to have more new families with small children so we may have more visitors again this year.
It’s going to rain again all weekend, so no first weekend of autumn hiking. Instead, Jeff and I have tickets for the Edward Hopper show at the Cape Ann Museum. I’m looking forward to it.
