Kjaer Weis Luxe Refillable Compact & Cream Blush

About 5 years ago, I was invited to an event at a med spa in Newburyport MA that was hosting the organic luxury makeup brand, Kjaer Weis, and their founder. I was sent home with a few samples that I truly enjoyed trying out.

Since then, I have kept an eye on Kjaer Weis. They don’t have very many sale events, and their makeup is, not surprisingly, expensive.

Very recently, they had one of their rare Friends & Family Sales, and I decided to treat myself to one of their cream blushes in their truly deluxe silver compact.

Kjaer Weis is an environmentally responsible brand as well as an organic one. Just about all of their products come as refills that you just plop into their reusable containers/palettes or into your own magnetic palette.

The Kjaer Weis cream blush comes as a refill that can be put into their red cardboard compact (I got one as a sample at the makeup event a few years ago) or into their heavy silver mirrored compact. Since there was a sale going on, I decided to spring for the silver compact and I am glad that I did.

The silver compact comes in a small red recyclable cardboard box so that it is protected. Their name and KW initials are carved into the front of the compact, and their signature slant edge is on the lower right. It’s a handsome piece to whip out in public or anywhere to reapply.

The compact slides open to the right to reveal the area to place the blush refill. On the flip side of the cover is the mirror that is definitely big enough to use for makeup application.

The blush comes in 13 shades in the following categories:

  • nude
  • pink
  • berry
  • coral
  • iridescent

I was about to buy the same shade that I sampled several years ago called “Blossoming“, described as “a soft warm pink with a rosy hue”. I would say it is a universally flattering shade of bright pinky-peach, a classic. But at the last minute after reading some reviews written by women with fair/light skin and blonde or red hair, I decided to try a new shade, Reverence. Reverence is a light to medium pink shade with a cool tone that suits me very well, in fact, better than Blossoming that’s a warm-toned shade.

When it comes to cream blush, many of them are so creamy or oily that they don’t last very long on most skin, especially dry skin like mine. Though hydrating, they seem to get absorbed by the skin and disappear. Not great.

I took the photo above under yellowish lights, and the Reverence shade is less accurate than the swatch above.

Kjaer Weis cream blush is a stiffer, highly pigmented, buildable blush. I find that it still blends easily (I use my finger). It stays on, meaning it’s visible on my skin, for about 5-6 hours which for me is about a record. Here’s me wearing it. Actually, I applied more than I usually do so I am very colorful!

The blush refill alone costs $32. The red cardboard case with the refill is priced at $40. The iconic silver compact is priced at $56. Those are the regular, not sale, prices. Also, I received two free sample packets of other products that I haven’t tried yet.

Even on sale, I paid more than I usually would for makeup, but I am more than satisfied. I love this blush and compact!

  1. This is beautiful, Allison! I can’t believe that event was already 5 years ago, I remember when you went! I have a couple of their products, and their lipstick is one of my favorites! This is a wonderful luxury brand! I used to love to look at their products at BARNEYS NEW YORK, and how I miss those days, and that store!

Be careful with these cream blushes because they turn bad. It takes a while but you’ll find that when it turns the smell is pretty bad. Blossom is a wonderful shade and I miss it but I’m afraid to buy it again even though I saved my silver packaging. I forget the name of the other one I had but their colors are quite pretty.

    1. Oh bummer, Marcia, especially since you have the beautiful case! I am surprised that my Blossom blush that came in the red case that they gave me is still OK. I’ll keep an eye on it since it’s more than 4 yrs old
