Bombay Hair Flat Iron

I’m back! We had a fabulous time in London and Dublin. When I have more time, I will post highlights from our trip.

Before we left for London, I was thinking about bringing a couple of haircare tools with me. I did pack my dual voltage adorable (it has strawberries on it!) travel hair dryer from FHI Heat, but our hotel in Kensington and the AirBnB in Dublin had dryers with the appropriate plug for Great Britain.

Dual Voltage Bombay Hair Tramanna Flat Iron

I was trying to decide whether to bring my pricey GhD flat iron with me. I was pretty sure that I would have access to hair dryers, but I knew I wouldn’t have a flat iron unless I brought my own. Decades ago, using a converter and the appropriate adapter, I managed to fry my hair dryer, so I was a little concerned about my $200+ GhD even though it is dual voltage.

Fortunately, I was sent for review a dual voltage flat iron from Bombay Hair, a new-to-me brand that appears to be associated with hair extensions.

I decided to take it with me to test it out. First things first, the Bombay Hair Tamanna Flat Iron passed the foreign electrical system test with flying colors! It worked very well and didn’t fry using DC electricity.

Bombay Hair Tamanna Flat Iron is constructed with 100% tourmaline panels that are purported to protect the hair from heat, release negative ions to reduce static and frizz, and leave the hair feeling silky and smooth. The panels are 1″ x 3.5″.

The BH Tamanna Flat Iron has a digital adjustable temperature dial that can be set from 150˚F – 450˚F (65˚C – 230˚C). I have been using it set to the highest setting, but I see that my ghd Flat Iron is preset to 365˚F that ghd determined is the optimal temperature for straightening while avoiding damage to hair. Hmm. Using the Bombay Hair Tamanna Flat Iron set to 450˚F, the highest temperature certainly made super-quick work of straightening my coarse, thick hair. One pass through did the trick. I see now that ghd recommends 365˚F, so I will give the Bombay Hair Tamanna Flat Iron a try at that temperature to see if there’s a difference.

My hair came out great using the less costly Bombay Hair Tamanna Flat Iron. It was faster to use than my ghd which often requires two or three passes with the flat iron (my ghd is about 4 years old now). With the BH flat iron, my hair was silky, smooth, straight, and the effect lasted me 4-5 days. I’m on day 4 since I last shampooed, and my hair is still feeling silky and smooth.

Although I haven’t had the Bombay Hair Tamanna Flat Iron for anywhere near as long as I’ve had my ghd Flat Iron, I am nevertheless satisfied with it so far. Since returning home, I have continued to use the Bombay Hair Flat Iron rather than switching back to my ghd.

The BH Flat Iron can be used to make curls as well as to straighten, though I haven’t tried that.

Bombay Hair Flat Iron comes in a luxe looking box that I use to store mine.

The flat iron is easy to use:

  • press and hold the On/Off button for 2-4 seconds to turn on the unit
  • the unit heats up in less than a minute (maybe even less than 30 seconds)
  • the temperature can be adjusted higher or lower with the + and – buttons
  • has a rotating swivel cord for ease of use
  • repeat holding the On/Off button for 2-4 seconds to turn off the unit

Bombay Hair Tamanna Flat Iron is priced at $140, but it is currently 40% off with the code FALL40, bringing the price down to $84. Shipping is free for purchases over $50. Exchanges can be made up to 30 days after receiving the item, and returns can be made up to 14 days after receiving the item. Bombay Hair Tamanna Flat Iron is sold on the Bombay Hair website and the version with rose gold plates is sold on Amazon.

Bombay Hair’s flat irons deserve to be put on your consideration list when you need a new flat iron.

Bombay Hair Vent Brush

Bombay Hair was also generous to include their wet and dry hair detangling Vent Brush.

I’ve been using an FHI Heat Vent Brush since the spring and I love it, but the Bombay Hair Vent Brush has a real advantage IMHO. It’s curved, and its contact points fit my head and hair even better than my other flat paddle brush, making it easier and more effective to use! Plus the bristles are made from both nylon and bristles for better contact.

And like other vent brushes, the circulating air makes drying my hair even faster. 🙂

Like the Bombay Hair Tamanna Flat Iron, the Vent Brush is sold on both the Bombay Hair website and on Amazon. The Vent Brush, usually priced at $20, is currently on sale on the BH website for 50% off, $10. Certainly worth it!

On A Different Topic…

On Tuesday, I have an appointment at Beth Israel Hospital to get an ultrasound of my neck arteries. Chances are I won’t have time to write a post to run on Wednesday, so I may “see” you on Thursday. Wish me luck!

  1. What an excellent savings on the flatiron and the brush! You will be in my thoughts before, during and after your ultrasound, Allison! Sending lots of love! <3

    1. Thank you, Lola xoxo The P.A. read the results of the ultrasound and told me I “have the (carotid) arteries of a 20 year old”! So even though we don’t know about my other arteries, that is good news!!

Welcome back. This straightener came at the perfect time. I’m so glad it’s dual wattage. Your hair looks fabulous in your picture and you look so rested.

    1. Thank you, Marcia! And thanks for saying I look rested in the photo ‘coz I was exhausted. We walked between 4.7 and 6.7 miles every day and did a million things, but it was worth it!
