3 MicrodermaMitts for Makeup Removal, Face & Body

Exfoliation is really important. It makes your skin feel super smooth. It helps your makeup go on evenly and smoothly. It helps your skin look and feel healthier by cleaning clogged pores. It stimulates collagen production. It gives skin radiance.

I have lots of products for exfoliation in my arsenal:

  • Chemical exfoliators
  • Physical exfoliators: scrubs/ microdermabrasion creams
  • Spongelles
  • Foreos
  • Dry brushes

But I don’t always feel like taking the time to find them or use them. Enter MicrodermaMitt.

Not long ago, MicrodermaMitt sent me three of their several beauty tools. First, they make terrific stocking stuffers or small gifts for the holidays!

MicrodermaMitt, a family-owned business, began in 2004, even though this was my first introduction to the brand. It was inspired by the Turkish Hamman (or Turkish traditional baths or spa) where exfoliation with natural fibers is part of the treatment.

Thus, MicrodermaMitt’s face and body mitts are woven with 100% natural silk floss in an appropriate weave for the skin’s condition. 100% vegan Floss Fibers will not cause micro-tears in the skin. When the floss fiber is wet it swells, forming a gripping action that quickly and effectively lifts and removes dead skin cells.

All of MicrodermaMitt’s exfoliating gloves have been recommended by dermatologists. If you have acne, there’s a special less abrasive face mitt for that. If you have a body condition called Ichthyosis (a dry, scaly skin disorder) or the more familiar condition keratosis pilaris, there’s are special body mitts to use to mitigate the effects of those disorders. If you have normal skin, there are mitts for normal face and body.

MicrodermaMitts are supposed to last for about 6 months, though that may depend on how often you use them and the condition of your skin.

Face

The MicrodermaMitt Face Mitt gives you a deep cleansing and healthier skin after the first use! You wet the lightweight mitt, squeeze it out, and smooth it over your face in circles. The weave of the silk floss grabs on to dead skin cells and sweeps them away, revealing healthier, more radiant skin. MicrodermaMitt Face Mitt should be used once or twice a week.

Specific benefits may:

  • Help diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Help even out discoloration and other visible signs of aging
  • Scrub away dead skin cells caused by sun damage and age
  • Stimulate collagen production, promoting healthier and younger looking skin
  • Open and clear pores of oil, dirt, soap, make-up or lotion
  • Help smooth acne scarring, leaving skin more even looking

After using the mitt, rinse it with water and let it dry. The mitts come with a handy loop at the top so you can hang them to dry. I find my mitts dry within a couple of hours.

Face Mitts come in packages of 1, 3 or 6 mitts, and you save on larger quantities.

Body

The MicrodermaMitt Body Mitt is very similar to the Face Mitt, but it’s a slighter longer rectangle, and it’s a thicker silk floss weave.

To use the Body Mitt, shower first to soften the skin. Shut off the water or step away from the stream. Completely wet the mitt and squeeze out the excess water. Make long strokes just using the water on the Body Mitt, and use more pressure on the skin (except sensitive skin areas) with each stroke. You may begin to see skin sloughing off onto the mitt. When finished, thoroughly rinse out the Body Mitt and hang it to dry via the loop. This mitt takes a little longer to dry.

Below there’s a short video that shows the proper way to use MicrodermaMitts Body Mitts. It’s definitely worth watching because initially I used my body mitt the wrong way, lol, with shower gel. That’s a no-no. Plain water on the mitt does the trick!

Benefits may include:

  • Visibly removing layers of dead skin instantly
  • Stimulating collagen production to help promotehealthier, smoother and younger looking skin
  • Helping to remove and smooth keratosis pilaris (tiny bumps on back of arms, thighs and buttocks) to maintain bump free skin by unplugging hair follicles to remove the buildup of keratin which causes the red bumps
  • Improving circulation to help prevent cellulite
  • Helping prevent razor bumps and ingrown hair

Although it’s been years since I’ve had a professional body scrub, using a MicrodermaMitt Body Mitt may eliminate the need for one or at least help you cut down on the frequency of going to the spa.

Like Face Mitts, Body Mitts come in packages of 1, 3 or 6 mitts.

Makeup Remover

The Makeup Remover is a smallish, soft, microfiber mitt that is brilliant at removing makeup. I wish I had had the MicrodermaMitt Makeup Remover when we were traveling!

I have had a number of makeup remover facecloths over the years, and I truly prefer this little mitt made from a new microfiber. It’s easier to maneuver over my face and easier to control the amount of pressure I apply to remove different makeup products.

With just water, the MicrodermaMitt has no trouble removing my makeup. Use one side to remove makeup, then flip it around to rinse your face clean with the other side of the mitt.

To clean the mitt, wash the Makeup Remover Mitt with bar soap (preferably a natural bar soap) by sliding the mitt on both sides on top of the soap. Then rub the two sides together by turning the mitt inside out. Rinse thoroughly with water to remove all of the soap. Hang to dry. Or you can machine wash the mitt, but don’t use fabric softener and do not dry it in the dryer.

The company says that the MicrodermaMitt Makeup Remover can last for up to 9 months when properly cared for.

Final Thoughts

The three MicrodermaMitt products make exfoliating and makeup removal easy! Plus my skin has benefited from exfoliating on the regular 😉

MicrodermaMitt products (they also sell face and body oils to be used after exfoliating) are sold on the MicrodermaMitt website. The products start at $20 and up (each product is priced differently), and shipping is free in the U.S. Check ’em out for the holiday season, and start the New Year with smooth, healthier skin!

  1. Hi, Allison – These sound so nice, because it seems they are safer for delicate skin. It’s so cool that they are derived from Turkish baths! They definitely sound good for us, which makes them great little gifts. Thanks for sharing this find – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com
