essie Nail Lacquer, Mojito Madness

On the way home from the CPA’s office, I stopped into Whole Foods to pick up a few of their delicious and affordable sausages as well as chicken breasts that were on sale. The approximately 18 year old cashier made my day when she told me she loooooved my nail polish. That almost never happens.

Today, I was wearing essie mojito madness, a green polish. I almost never wear green nail  polish.

Recently, I received an unsolicited goodie bag from Kohl’s packed with samples of makeup and skincare brands that are sold in their expanded Cosmetics Department (link to Kohls Beauty review!). One of the goodies was essie mojito madness, a mid-range green with a hint of yellow but not neon green. To me, it’s a real summer type green, and I actually love it.

They call it “mojito”, I’d call it preppy green. In fact, it’s almost an exact match to my Kate Spade green with pink polka dot beach towel that I adore.

In addition to the shade, I ended up loving the formula. OMG, it was a pleasure to apply it. Frankly, I did the best mani I’ve ever done in my entire life. The Whole Foods cashier asked me if I had my nails done at a salon. When I told her I did them myself, she was in shock because, she said, they looked so perfect. Never have I done an almost perfect mani before.

It was easy to apply two thin coats that dried so quickly over a coat of Revlon Color Stay Basecoat. Then I applied a coat of Deborah Lippmann Topcoat, followed by Orly Sec ‘n Dry. My mani was dry and set within minutes. I didn’t even have to use essence express drying drops that I usually use.

I had planned to do an accent nail with pink polka dots to go with my beach towel, but I loved the way my nails looked and I didn’t want to take a chance on ruining them (plus I’m couldn’t find my dotting tool).

  1. I simply love it Allison!
I never dared green nails until…. this morning!!! I was walking in the little street next to the one where I live and I noticed a new Chinese nail salon just opened. I stopped to say hallo and give a look around and the girl inside was so pretty and kind I decided to invest a hour into a mani. They have the entire collection of OPI nail polishes and among all I ended up choosing a color named Jade is the new black (ahahaha): simply stunning!
    A hug from Milano.

    1. What a coincidence, Anna! We both were thinking green 🙂 I’m so glad you found a nice new nail salon. I love the name of the one you tried 😀 I’ve gotta check it out! Hugs to you from the US! Grazie 🙂

  2. Oh this is pretty! For some reason I just can’t bring myself to wear either blues or greens. This summer I’m enjoying pinks too much! 🙂
