Milani Bella Eyes Gel Powder Shadows

There’s been a lot of excitement about the new Milani Bella Eyes Gel Powder Shadows Collection. And I intend to add to the buzz!

Last week, I received all 30 new Milani Bella Eyes Gel Powder Shadows to try out and review. I have never had 30 eye shadows at one time. I must say it was a tiny bit overwhelming, but I rose to the occasion. 😉 I photographed them all closed, then open, then in color groupings, on my fingertips, and swatches on my arm. Then, I realized that I had only 29 colors. I went back through all the little cardboard boxes they came in during shipping, and there it was — taupe — the missing shade. Back to the drawing board, or more accurately, take out the camera and redo the pix, lol!

First, I love the little gold compacts for each shade. They’re like little gifts.

Next, when I placed the compacts on the table and opened them all up, they looked like jewels. The colors are so vibrant, they almost glow. They are that beautiful!

30 shades all at once are a bit overwhelming, so I broke them into color groups. These are my groupings, not Milani’s. Among the 30 shades, there is a mix of satins, shimmers and mattes. The majority are satins. There are a mix of neutrals and colors ranging from pastels to midrange shades, brights, and darks. There are beautiful metallics. There is a mix of warm and cool-toned shades, but I think they would look great on all skin tones. I was going to list which ones are my favorite, but I think that would be like choosing a favorite child. Not possible. I know it’s probably too much, but I am going to show you pix and swatches of all of ’em!

Touching them with my finger, I was amazed at how buttery and soft they are. They’re finely milled, and there was a bit of fallout around the compact when I swiped my finger across the pan 2 or 3 times. Frankly, these are so richly colored, there was no need for me to sweep my finger across the pan more than once! There has been no fallout on or around my eyes. And they blend super-easily. I’m no makeup artist, to be sure, and they are easy for a still novice like me to apply.

They feel incredibly lightweight, but they wear well for hours. I have worn them over Milani Eye Primer, and there is no creasing at all and they last without fading for many hours. I think the finger swatches are better for really seeing the colors, but here’s how they look on my arm in bright noonday sunshine. I would say they are not quite as bright on skin than in the finger swatches.

I had planned to give away a lot of these to friends and family. Truth be told, I can’t part with them. They’re just too gorgeous.

Milani has continued to up their game. This new collection of gel eye shadow is way beyond drugstore quality. In fact, I had purchased an eye shadow palette at Rite Aid while on a recent business trip from a drugstore brand that I always wanted to try. I thought it was terrific…till I received the Milani Bella Eyes Gel Powder Shadow. No comparison! These Milani beauties are a whole different animal. 😉

Milani Bella Eyes Gel Powder Shadows are starting to appear at CVS. They can also be purchased on milanicosmetics.com. Each shadow is 0.05 oz./1.4g, and the price is $3.99. You gotta try at least a few of these…but warning, they are addictive 😉

  1. They sound great!! and wow what an all inclusive article..I LOVED that you showed the colors and in the color groups etc…Since they sound so wonderful I guess I wont be getting any “give aways”…

    1. Oh, you just might, Lois, depending on which shades you’re coveting. The ones that I must keep are gold, copper, bronze, silver, grey, charcoal, teal, mandarin, espresso, taupe, khaki, sand, chiffon, white. Are there any of the others that you’d like? They blend very well!

    1. I think they are really gorgeous, Rosie. The color payoff on the vast majority of shades is huge. The lightest ones are best for highlighting under the brow bone or the inner corner because they are more subtle. Do you have any faves so far?

  2. Chiffon, Sand, Champagne, Caffe, Sky, Rose are on my list. Does it wear longer or as long with a shadow primer or is it best to wear it alone with out a primer? It looks like it may be a little easier to control the color versus traditional powder. New thing to add to my list!Would love to see how they could mix and blend as well. But they look great alone as a color too.

    1. Becki, those are beautiful shades you’ve got on your list. Why not add in a couple of the darker shades to use in the crease or in an outer-V? They blend very well. I applied the swatches on my arm over Milani Eye Primer, and when I wear them (or any shadow for that matter), I always apply them over eye primer, and you now have the Milani Eye Primer!! Over primer, you can really can great color coverage with just one swipe. I’ll get some looks up sooner or later. With my red hair, I’ve been using Mandarin, Espresso & Taupe together. Also, I’ve been playing with the metallics: gold, copper, bronze and they are gorgeous. I haven’t tried teal yet, but I must. Let me know if you pick up a few, and what you think. PS Have you tried the Milani baked eyeshadow from the goody bag yet? Thanks so much for your comment, Becki!

      1. I haven`t yet tried the baked eye shadow but I haven’t had a chance present itself yet. I hope to try it out this weekend. I also want to try the mandarin it looks really pretty and not a super orange. ilove dark colors but they dont seem to always look right on me during the summer. I wonder if these would be different since they are a gel and not a powder. Like I said they look like they would be easier to control. I ususally do wear browns and greys(charcoal) like colors and I am trying to branch out into lighters colors, rose and mandarin would be outside of the box for me, of course I havent had the expense to fill out my makeup case due to my skin reaction to some products. So I think these new eyeshadows would be a good addition. I havent had any reactions to the goody bag products I have tried which is exciting for me. The eye liner is fabulous; it just glides on (also by Milani). The Cailyn red lip gloss tint…. BEST THING I HAVE EVER TRIED AND HAVE WORN (lip wise).I believe there is a red for everyone regardless of skin tone. It really makes my eyes pop, plus with the built in brush I dont have to worry about cleaning it all the time like others Ive carried. A few swipes and it lasts me from 730am until 8pm or so when I remove all my makeup and clean my face. It wears down, but I apply it once and Im set. The Nyx lip stick is also nice. It feels like velvet smooth rich. The Elle lip gloss is perfect and will go with purple, golds, browns. Practically everything, and it is not sticky. I cant thank you enough for the awesome fabulous bag. It really has help me make a statement 🙂 . I’ll let you know as I continue to work through the bag.

        1. I am sooooooooo happy, Becki, that the products are working out for you! Especially that Cailyn lippie! I have one, too, and I think the shade is beautiful and universal and the packaging rocks! With regard to the new Milani shadows, they blend really well. Mandarin is more of a peach than an orange. On me, it looks like a nude with more of a peachy punch. I blend it with espresso and taupe in the crease & outer-V and it is very pretty with my hair/coloring. They’re fun to play with.

    1. Which one are you missing, Brooke? I amazed that you’ve been able to find almost all of them. They are still MIA at my local CVS stores

  3. Whoa, so pretty! I bought Navy and Rouge to try out and I love love love them hehe. I cannot believe how much color you get from just one swipe of the product. Thank you for making my shopping addiction worse. I am about to do my weekly Monday shopping and getting more of these babies hehe

    1. I don’t blame you for wanting to buy more, Heather! They are so dang pretty! Looking forward to seeing the looks you create with them, especially with your new red hair 🙂

  4. Really nice swatches! I looked at these eye shadows this weekend .. didn’t buy, but I did buy a Milani nail polish that’s suppose to have super long wear ~ stay tuned!

    Monica

    1. I am eager to hear about the super long-wear Milani polish. I’ve got the entire collection of the new Milani Color Statement polishes to review. I don’t think they are positioned as super long-wear, but more of a regular formula. The shades are beautiful however.

  5. I’ll try any you think might look good with my skin tone (of the moment eg; tan vs olive come the fall/winter). How fun it must be to try them!! Can’t wait to see you with them on 😉 BTW-how long does the color stay on for?

  6. WOWZA! 30 Shadows at one time and you left out the TAUPE? *sobs* LOL
The shades look really nice and such a good selection. I’m interested in the formula and will definitely pick up a few to try out! Thanks for posting this!

    1. That’s a great way to describe them, Sheila! I plan to do a giveaway of Milani cosmetics to create Fall Looks hopefully in August. Stay tuned!

    1. You’re making me laugh, Justina! But swatching them all, some twice when I discovered one was missing, was definitely a chore 😉 But worth it!

  7. Cvs is having a sale right now buy 1 get 1 50% off so I’m going tomorrow to check it out!! Hoping they have them at either of my CVS’s because I’ve heard some people can’t find them.

Where in mass do you live?! I live in MASS too!!

    1. Thanks for your comment and the head’s-up on the CVS sale! I haven’t been there yet this week, and I just did a post today about the new Milani nail polish collection. I live in Essex County on the North Shore, Wenham. How ’bout you???
