Pura D’Or Hair Loss Prevention Organic Shampoo & Conditioner

I have lots of thick, coarse hair, but that doesn’t seem to stop me from noticing a lot of it accumulating around the drain when I wash my hair. Thankfully, it’s not so noticeable on my head ‘coz there’s so much of it left. During gardening season, I sometimes collect my hair and make it into sachets that I put in the garden to protect my veggies from being eaten by the rabbits. Have you heard of that? It works, sort of.

Truth be told, I’d rather keep my hair on my head. So I was happy when I had an opportunity to try Pura D’Or Hair Loss Prevention Organic Shampoo & Conditioner. I love the idea of using organic products whenever I can. Plus, the Pura D’Or shampoo and conditioner are sulfate-free and safe for color-treated hair like mine. Also, they have no DEA, no parabens and no harsh chemicals. I spend a lot of money on my hair so I want to be sure I’m using haircare products that protect my investment!

Hair Loss Prevention Organic Shampoo

After applying the shampoo, I followed the directions and left it on for at least 2 minutes, actually a bit longer even. The shampoo has a faint peppermint scent. It produces just the right amount of lather, and it’s easy to wash out. I like the fact that it leaves my hair a bit squeaky. I like my hair to feel “clean” before I coat it with conditioner, lol.

Ingredients:
Purified water, sodium cocoyl isethionate (derived from coconut), cocamidopropyl betaine (derived from coconut), tea tree oil, argan oil, black seed (kanoji) oil, amla oil, nettle extract, biotin, saw palmetto, cedarwood oil, rosemary oil, sage extract, he shou wu (fo-ti), hibiscus oil, pygeum extract, pumpkin seed oil, green tea extract, zinc, soy isoflavones, beta sitosterols, aloe vera, niacin, vitamin E, B-vitamin complex, phenoxyethanol (mild preservative), grapefruit seed extract (natural preservative), lactic acid (naturally occurring in yogurt), and dead sea salt.

Pura D'Or Hair Loss Prevention Organic Conditioner

The conditioner is thick and hydrating. The label says Lavender Vanilla, and it has a faint and appealing warm herbal scent. I leave it on for a few minutes, and when I wash it out, my hair is tangle-free.

Ingredients:
Purified water, organic coconut protein, ceteareth 20 (derived from coconut), stearyl amidopropyl dimethylamine (derived from coconut), plant protein (naturally derived vegetable proteins), glycerin (100% vegetable base), argan oil, lavender extract, vanilla extract, PF-64 (Pareben-free mild preservative), Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Vitamin E and citric acid (naturally derived to balance pH).

I have only used the products for a week due to review posting requirements so I cannot say that I’ve seen a reduction yet in the amount of hair in the drain. The products are supposed to work to prevent hair loss and increase hair volume over time. In fact, the directions on the Pura D’Or website say to use the products for 3 months. But I’ll report back in the future on my results. Nevertheless, Pura D’Or Shampoo & Conditioner leave my hair clean, manageable and soft and they are made with high quality, organic ingredients. As regular haircare products alone, they are terrific!

Pura D’Or Hair Loss Prevention Shampoo & Conditioner are sold on Amazon. The shampoo and conditioner, 16 fl.oz., are each currently priced around $20. They are made in the U.S.

Pura D’Or Organic Argan Oil

I also received a bottle of Pura D’Or 100% Pure and USDA Organic Argan Oil.

Pura D'Or 100% Natural USDA Organic Argan Oil

Argan oil can be used for so many different things:

  • on the hair, before or after shampooing for extra hydration
  • on the face: add a couple of drops to moisturizer or pat it on straight to revive or protect skin
  • on the body: used right after the shower on damp skin, it helps seal in moisture
  • on the cuticles and nails: a must if you use acetone to remove polish and great to keep nails and cuticles hydrated in winter.

I use argan oil all the time, so I was happy to get to try Pura D’Or’s version. It comes in a brown glass apothecary bottle with glass dropper to protect the efficacy of the oil. It is cold pressed, unrefined (which is what you want!), and it has no additives. Pura D’Or Argan Oil comes from Morocco, the source of this plant oil derived from kernels from the argan tree.

Pura D’Or Argan Oil contains 4 fl.oz./118 ml, It is also sold on Amazon for about $20.

  1. I am battling Hashimoto and am losing my hair horribly. Thankfully my hair used to be thick. Currently I use Rogaine drops and it seems to help some. In desperation I am taking liver supplements to raise my ferritin levels. You will have to let me know later if you notice a difference with your hair using this brand.

    1. I’ve heard that Rogaine is quite effective. I didn’t know about liver supplements. I’m sorry to hear it, Laura. Did taking a break from hair color help at all? I’ll let you know about this duo, but it says 3 months for results!

    1. I’m glad to hear your hair is recovering, Erika! I’ll let you know about this duo in a few months. In the meantime, they are lovely haircare products!

  2. Thanks for introducing us to these products. I’d love to hear what you think after using them for a longer period of time. So happy to see argan oil there, because it’s such a great hair care ingredient.

  3. No change with hair color abstinence. I am getting more blood panels done this month. Hopefully my new wellness doctor can help.

    1. I have never tried haircare products that prevent hair loss before. However, I have heard such positive things from hair professionals and dermatologists about Nioxin products so maybe these will work too. It’s a 3 month time frame, so it definitely will require patience.

  4. I have always had a full head of hair and tons of it… and then I had my children and after the pregnancy of my twins, I noticed thinning of my hair. So products like these really are essential. Definitely awesome to see there are more like these out.

    1. Yes, it is because so many people have hair loss. Rogaine and Nioxin were the only options for quite a while. I think it’s good to have some haircare products with natural ingredients. We’ll see in 3 months whether it makes a difference!

    1. Exactly what I was thinking, Helen! I hope that in 2 1/2 months I’ll be able to report success, but in the meantime, they are darn good shampoo and conditioner with great ingredients!

    1. I’ll try to remember to do a follow up in about 3 months! I hope they’ll make a difference, but in the meantime, they are terrific “regular” haircare

    1. Me too, Bailey. But at any rate, the organic and other natural ingredients are terrific and it’s safe for color-treated hair. From what I can see so far, the shampoo & conditioner are great overall haircare products.

    1. I usually use Indian oil on my hair, but I put some of the argan oil before washing it last time, and it works the same way. I’ve mostly been using it on my dry nails and on my face. It’s such a great multi-tasker

    1. Thanks, Trenton. This shampoo/conditioner duo is a help in slowing down hair loss. Yes, it is amazing that there are lots of options these days for a difficult condition.

  5. Good piece of writing and information. I have found Moroccan Argan Oil and its products great on my skin, hair and nails. Suggested some people about the brand from where I bought.
