St. Patrick’s Day Face of the Day

Face of the Day makeup

I have red hair, and I live in the Boston suburbs so some people think I’m Irish. They think my last name – Cohen – is Cohan. Though I’m not Irish, I join the crowd around here and play one on Saint Patrick’s Day. I break out my Celtic’s jacket whether they’re winning or not (this year they’re not), and I think of my dad who gave it to me for my birthday more than 20 years ago.

I love the color green. I painted my great room green, my dining room has green floral wallpaper, and I use green a lot in decorating. But in my makeup, green doesn’t get much love. Although redheads are always paired up with green, I feel a little uncomfortable with green. But when the ladies of The Beauty Collaborative decided to get together and do St. Patrick’s Day looks, I thought why not.

So, here’s my St. Patrick’s Face of the Day.

Face of the Day makeup look

I just had my hair recolored, and it is definitely super bright in the daylight. Yikes. In order to tone down the green, I’m wearing my green and blue poncho. The blue has a tempering effect. Though I still look pretty darn colorful!

And here are the products I used for the look.

    1. Thanks, Christine. I think I was meant to be a redhead rather than a blonde. You really should try Estee Lauder BB Cream. It gives great medium-full coverage, lasts me all day, and I love the mild fig scent when I apply it.

    1. Edgy Emerald is part of the regular collection, and it is usually always at CVS but maybe that’s because we’re in Irish Massachusetts and green is a staple shade here lol.

  1. My father is Greek/Italian and my mom is an English/Irish mix. At a conference a former colleague (who is Irish, straight from Ireland) asked me about my last name which is Greek. He said that with my dark hair and green eyes, he said I looked more Irish than Greek .. I’ve never heard that before and found his observation quite interesting.

Anywhoo .. love your pretty look here .. I must check out that Maybelline Tattoo in Edgy Emerald 🙂

    Monica.

    1. I think you look very much “Black Irish” as they say around here with your dark hair, light skin and green eyes! The Edgy Emerald is a sea green shade that really is pretty. I don’t wear it that often, but I do like how this look came out so maybe as the weather turns springier, I’ll reach for it more often!

    1. Ha, I asked my stylist about doing strawberry-blonde after she did a Malibu to take some of the red color build-up out of my hair. She refused, reminding me that I don’t like my hair when it’s not super-bright like this, lol.

    1. Thank you so much, Erika 🙂 Thankfully, my red hair is not quite this red in person as it looks in the photo but I am still quite colorful 😉

    1. I’m in love with those Jordana mattes, tho I just tried a great Maybelline Color Sensational matte that’s lovely too. Thank you, Honey! I like the green much better than I thought I would. Maybe once it turns green around here instead of white, I’ll wear it more often. I’m gonna try the Milani Emerald 🙂

    1. I’ve had red hair probably almost as long as you have been on earth, Shipra! I do love it, and I have had a variety of red shades. Actually my hair looks redder in the photos than in person, thank goodness!

    1. I haven’t used that palette very much myself. It has a beautiful gold shadow that I must start using. And the travel size They’re Real must go into the rotation too!

  2. Pretty lady and pretty photograph! I used to have a friend with red hair, ten years ago she moved. She was French Canadian. Anyways, the make up colors go well with your hair color. I like the lipstick color and the eye liner colors.

    1. Thank you so much, Tamara! I really appreciate it. I don’t usually wear green shadow, as I mentioned, but maybe once it turns green outside instead of white, I’ll try wearing it more often. Thanks for taking the time to comment on my blogpost <3<3<3

    1. Thank you, Renu! Edgy Emerald is a wonderful summer color, but I think it does look better than I thought it would. Once it starts to be green outdoors instead of white, I may try to wear it more often 🙂 And I do love Jordana Matte Bare, so pretty, so comfortable to wear

  3. This look played so well with your skin tone, eye color and hair color. I have to admit your hair is so vibrant and fiery. I’m jealous!

    1. Thankfully, my hair isn’t that bright in person, Ashley. Somehow, it just photographs that way. But thank you. I think once it warms up outside and turns green again, I’ll try to use green shadow more often. It is kinda fun!

  4. Such a beautiful look! People think I’m Irish too, lol. I’m not 🙂
I’m going to try your lipstick and lip liner, so pretty!
I was wondering where locals go for the best St. Patrick’s Day
dinner. I’m new to Boston. Any recs? Thanks!

      1. Thank you so much Allison! We are going through the list now. I’m getting the lip products too. You’re the best!
