Today was another busy day. I had to go into Boston which is an all day event. I had a bunch of errands. Tomorrow night is the start of Passover. So, I haven’t had time to write a proper blogpost. I’m sure you’re busy too with the start of Easter and Passover weekend!
So instead I’ll do a quick post and giveaway.
Ulta and Sephora Birthday Visits
On Wednesday, I went to both Ulta and Sephora to pick up my birthday gifts.
Ulta
Ulta changes birthday gifts every 3 months. For April through June, the birthday gift is the choice of one of three light shades of Tarteist Lip Paint, Tarte’s liquid matte lipstick. I chose Homeslice, a lovely mauve-neutral shade. It was the deepest of the three choices, though it certainly is not a dark shade. It’s perfect for spring/summer and for everyday wear all year.
I know I cannot wear the Tarteist Lip Paint formula on my dry lips, so I am giving it away.
While I was at Ulta, I wanted to use my $10 birthday gift coupon and also use the 20% off coupon that all members of the Ultamate Rewards Program got. I’ve been seeing a lot of ads for Coola’s new Sun Silk Drops, a super lightweight sunscreen that can be used alone or added to moisturizer or foundation. It sounds innovative and very useful. I have a million moisturizers I like that don’t have SPF, and the same with foundation so this would be helpful to me. Sadly, Ulta doesn’t carry it in the store; it’s online only. Boo. Also, I needed a new Estee Lauder Doublewear Eyeliner Pencil in Graphite. I love this shade, and though I have looked at other brands, none have this shade of medium grey. Again, they don’t carry it in the store and it’s out of stock online. Grrrrr. I ended up ordering the Coola Sun Silk Drops at the store so I could get free delivery. I used the 20% off coupon to buy the Coola, and I wanted to also use the $10 discount, but Ulta wouldn’t let me. I think that’s not fair. Instead, I ended up buying something I didn’t need just to use the $10. Boo, Ulta.
Sephora
Next I headed to Sephora to pick up my birthday gift. The options were:
- two travel size skincare products from Drunk Elephant
- a trio of samples from Kat von D: Tattoo Liner, Setting Powder and 3 little lipstick samples
- 250 points.
Lately, Sephora hasn’t had anything I wanted to get with the points I have, so I didn’t really want the points. I do want to try Drunk Elephant, but I have so much skincare I’m drowning. So I went with the KVD samples. I don’t buy Kat von D products because I don’t appreciate the anti-Semitic comments she has made in the past and I don’t agree with her anti-vaxxer stance. I don’t need to give her my money. But I do love the Tattoo Liner, and I needed a new one. I don’t use setting powder on my dry skin, so I will give that away too. The lipstick samples are just tiny squares, but they’re matte lipsticks that I can’t wear so I’ll give those away for someone else to play with.
While at Sephora, I asked when the spring sale event was happening, and of course, no one knows. So I won’t buy anything till the sale.

What a pleasant and generous surprise Allison. BTW, Homeslice is a slang term similar to Home girl,Home boy. A childhood friend and I used to use it in High School so I’m surprised it’s resurfaced. LOL. It’s a very nice color and I would love to win it and who doesn’t love to win a giveaway. I was unaware of Kat Von D’s anti vaxxer stance. As a mother with a child on the autism spectrum I feel strongly about this and hate that people blame vaccinations for what God has the only control over. I think you’d like the shade of the Tarteist Lip Paint, Sandy. I actually am carrying around one of those cards from Ulta for free shipping. I went to the store because I was hoping someone could help me be able to use both the 20% off and the $10 off bday gift on my order, but no such luck.
