Peachy Summer Face of the Day

A couple of days ago, I wrote about my recent MAC mini-haul, and I showed swatches of MAC’s Satin Lipstick, Sushi Kiss.

I’m on the fence about it, although I’m beginning to think it’s a nice summer shade. The more I use it, the more it reminds me of the pale pastel, retro shades that were popular in the 1960s. Maybe I like it, a little.

Flora commented that she’d like to see Sushi Kiss used in a look. Seemed like a great idea, so yesterday I did just that. I pulled out my Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette and went to work.

Here’s the makeup I used:

Seeing Sushi Kiss with other peachy shades definitely changed the way I look at the shade.

The peachy lids, cheeks and the peachy walls in my hallway change the way Sushi Kiss looks. It’s still a lighter shade of lipstick than I typically wear, but it is less jarring in peachy context than wearing it on its own with other more random shades. So in the future I’ll reach for it whenever I do a summer peach look.

Would you wear this shade?

I think it looks great. It isn’t really that light….it doesn’t wash out on your lips at all. I think it’s a perfect summer look for you. It might take a little bit for your eyes to get used to the change. I find the lighter colors to be so much easier to wear when you’re in a hurry. Keep it!!

    1. Thanks a lot, Dawn! I like how Sushi Kiss looked with the peach makeup more than I liked it with random makeup, and I guess that makes sense. I think I’ll end up keeping it and wearing it more selectively. I think what bugs me is that Sushi Kiss is definitely lighter than my natural lip color, and I’m having a hard time getting used to it…but I will!

    1. Thanks, Judy! I have learned not to buy color cosmetics without seeing the shade in person coz this looked very different in the swatch on the MAC website. The actual shade is lighter than my own lips and overall I don’t like that look on me

  6. I love that MAC lippie on you! You wear it well!

My skin tone wouldn’t work with the peachy shades. BUT it all looks fantastic on you. Glad you kept it ❤️

    1. Thank you so much, Sandy xo I think Sushi Kiss looks good with similar shades in the rest of my makeup so I guess I’ll “save” it for when I wear peach blush and either peach or brownish eye makeup. What I have learned is not to buy color cosmetics online without seeing the shade in person first! I was so eager to take advantage of the MAC Select online sale that I just went ahead and bought it. I also didn’t know that I can’t return MAC to the store, I would have to send it back. I love peach lipsticks but Sushi Kiss is lighter than my lips, and it’s that disparity that bugs me 😉 Have a good weekend, Sandy

  8. Beautiful look! I have been thinking about ordering that palette but still haven’t.

  10. I think it turned out great with the peach makeup. You really should consider using a dark lipliner with it to change the depth of Sushi Kiss. It makes a big difference. I wore a darker mauve liner with a caramel gloss today and it turned out so much prettier than when I just use the gloss.

    1. Marcia, do you mean use the darker lipliner on my entire lips beneath the lipstick? Thanks again for another great tip!

  15. I love that lipstick shade! I always feel a bit intimated with true corals, but I love the peachier-types. Such a pretty look!
