Ipsy “Create” Glam Bag for March 2018

Ipsy decided to change things up this month. The theme of the bag is “Create”.

To go along with the create theme, they included two spring-y markers along with the bag, a hot pink and a bright green. Then, I noticed that the bag itself was different: it’s bigger! In fact, it fits my iPhone 7Plus with room to spare. And it’s big enough to fit makeup brushes. Yippee!

The bag itself is cute. The cottony fabric is covered with faceless drawings of girls. I haven’t tried yet, but I’m wondering if we can use the colored markers to color them in??

So let’s see what I got from Ipsy in March 2018.

Skyn Iceland Pure Cloud Cream, sample 0.33 fl. oz. valued at $10.67: Pure Cloud Cream from Skyn Iceland contains cloudberry, an ingredient that I was familiar with from Lumene skincare products. Cloudberry is a tart orange berry found in arctic regions that promises anti-aging benefits because they’re rich in the antioxidant vitamin C, and they help even skin tone and protect against environmental damage. I was eager to try out this moisturizer, and I think it’s a good one. It’s lightweight and has a matte finish. I typically prefer a dewy finish in a moisturizer especially when it’s still cold out like it is now. I think I’ll like it even more for summer.

Hikari Cream Pigment Eyeshadow in shade, Shine, full size single $13: I think cruelty-free Hikari is an undervalued brand. I have liked all the makeup I’ve gotten from Hikari. And I think I like the Cream Pigment Eyeshadow most! Not surprising because I love creams. But this one is so lightweight, silky and extremely pigmented that it’s almost unbelievable. I received Shine, a gold-copper shade. Hikari calls it a shimmer. I think it’s more of a metallic. The alternate shade, Envy, green shimmer, would have been nice too. In fact, I was considering picking it up, but the Ipsy site says “not in stock” – boo. But Envy, Shine and 12 other shades are available on the Hikari site for $13.

SLMISSGLAM SL41 Boutique Blusher Brush, full size: Although I’m not familiar with this brand, it sure is a super cute makeup brush. My inner 6 year old loves the orchid glitter wood handle and the pink and purple super soft synthetic bristles. The rose gold ferrule is embedded with orchid crystals. I haven’t had a chance to use this blush, highlighter, contour brush yet, but I have high hopes for it based on looks alone. 😉 The SLMISSGLAM brushes are sold on the SLMISSGLAM website, and they seem to be sold as sets or collections.

Tarte Sex Kitten Eyeliner, travel size: Though it’s yet another black eyeliner pencil, I am going to keep this one because it’s from Tarte, it looks creamy and perfect for tight-lining, and it’s the perfect size to bring with me to Amsterdam. I’ll let you know what I think about the formula later.

Finding Ferdinand Mini Lipstick in Au Naturel, a nude with a hint of pink, $6 mini: At first, I was confused by the name. I thought Finding Ferdinand had something to do with the Ferdinand the Bull movie that came out during the holidays, but I guess it doesn’t. Have you ever heard of this brand? Anyway, I love to get lipsticks in my Ipsy bag.

Unfortunately, I wish I got the alternate lipstick shade, Rose Gold instead. I think Au Naturel is one of those shades that makes me look like death because it’s lighter than my own lips. This is what it looks like on my lips.

It looks like I’m wearing a darker lipliner with it, but that “lipliner” is actually my own lips. It’s actually a beautiful nude-pink shade, just not good for me. I was going to put it in the giveaway pile, but the formula sounded really good (creamy and super moisturizing) so I had to try it. And the formula is everything they say it is. Perfect for super dry lips like mine. I looked through their product line on the Ipsy site, and their other lipstick shades are gorgeous and they have nice looking eyeshadows and blushes too. Check ’em out on the Finding Ferdinand website. There’s a 20% discount and free shipping from Finding Ferdinand for Ipsy subscribers, so I may take the plunge and get two of the mini lipsticks in different shades.

In addition to my bag this month, I redeemed my Ipsy points for another makeup brush from F.A.R.A.H. It’s a foundation brush No. 205 priced at $14, and it’s cute in purple. The synthetic bristles feel very slippery and smooth. I have more or less switched to applying foundation with either a blending sponge or a slant kabuki brush, but I’ll give this old-school foundation brush a try.

I’m very satisfied with this bag. The bag itself is a good addition to my stash because it’s bigger and more useful than the usual Ipsy bag. My favorite items in the bag are the Hikari Cream Pigment Eyeshadow and the SLMISSGLAM Blush Brush. I still wish I got the rose gold lipstick instead of the nude!

If you subscribe, I’ll be curious to find out what you got this month, and if you got the rose gold lipstick from Finding Ferdinand! If you don’t subscribe and want to, please consider using my referral code xoxo
