The holidays are upon us. If you’re looking for gifts or stocking stuffers for your friends or if you are giving friends and family ideas for stuff you want, consider one of the many grapefruit-scented fragrances.

Back in 2005, Alan Hirsch, director of the Smell and Taste Institute in Chicago, conducted a study that showed that men perceived middle-aged women who had been sprayed with grapefruit scent to be an average of 6 years younger than they really were. Scents like banana, broccoli, spearmint leaves and even lavender made no difference. He also sprayed men with grapefruit scent, but they were not rated as younger by the male raters…just the women seemed younger. Well, I’ll go with that!

It seems that the news hit the fragrance industry with a bang. Today, there are oodles of fragrances with a hint or more of grapefruit. Some that you might consider are: Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue, YSL Baby Doll, Moschino I Love Love, Czech & Speake Citrus Paradisi, Jo Malone Grapefuit, Anna Goutal’s Eau d’Hadrian, Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle, Bond No. 9 Eau de New York, Hermes Amazone, Byblos by Byblos, Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune, Clinique’s Happy, DKNY Be Delicious among others.

So pass this list on to your secret or not-so-secret Santa, and let me know if you get carded next time you’re ordering cocktails!
