Treats for the Rose Lover

In spring, I have roses on the brain. I’m trying to clean out the leaves that have gathered since last fall around my rose plants so I can fertilize them. This past weekend, Jeff planted my new rose plants for me. Although I don’t always have the best luck with roses, I still adore them. I love the scent of roses, the velvet feeling of the petals, and the variety of colors and patterns they come in.

So when it comes to skincare products, I always like to have some products that contain rose ingredients or a rose scent or both!

Here are a couple of my current favorites.

Peak Scents Organic Rose Phyto3 Babchi Serum

New-to-me skincare brand, Peak Scents, contacted me a while ago. Their brand was founded by DeeAnn Tracy, a second-generation herbalist from Arizona who created a plant-based line of skincare products that delivers results. Their vegan and “beegan” products are handmade in small batches for freshness. Peak Scents’ mission is:

“…to provide non-toxic, sustainable, plant-based skincare products that harness the inherent power of plants, vitamins, and super fruits. By blending the wisdom of nature with scientific advancements, we aim to deliver proven results that promote the health and radiance of your skin.”

Peak Scents gifted me with their organic, cruelty-free, plant-based, eco-friendly, clean beauty Organic Rose Phyto3 Babchi Serum to try out. Their 4% Babchi Serum made from natural bakuchiol is a gentle but effective alternative to retinol for those whose skin may be sensitive to that ingredient.

“Clinically proven to share the same benefits as Retinol, this plant-based wonder is a highly effective treatment and a must-have for renewed, healthy and soft skin. This serum nourishes, regenerates and rejuvenates your skin cells, while helping to reduce the appearance of aging, sagging skin, pigmentation, wrinkles and even acne, blemishes and acne scars. It absorbs easily into the skin and promises to be non-sticky (while it) boasts aromatherapy qualities to energize your senses and promote an overall feeling of well-being. Great for the face, neck area and even the décolletage.”

The many benefits of this bakuchiol-based serum are:

  • minimizes pore size
  • fades hyperpigmentation
  • along with niacinamide, bakuchiol reduces redness and inflammation making it a perfect serum for sensitive skin or rosacea
  • supports collagen production
  • nourishes and rejuvenates skin
  • smooths skin’s texture
  • balances excess oil to help minimize acne
  • lightweight, non-greasy formula.

The serum is an off-white lightweight gel-cream that disappears on contact. It can be used twice a day, morning and night. Apply it after cleansing and toning and before moisturizer.

It has a heavenly light rose scent that disappears immediately after application.

Peak Scents Organic Rose Phyto3 Babchi Serum comes in a brown glass pump bottle that’s easily recyclable. And if you happen to be in the Flagstaff area where Peak Scents is located, you can stop by with your cleaned bottle and get a refill!

The serum comes in three sizes and it is sold at their Flagstaff store and on their website:

  • sample: $8
  • one ounce: $38
  • two ounce: $64.

I enjoy using this lightweight, rose-scented serum that disappears into my skin in seconds. I forget that I have it on. So if you like to layer your serums like I do, this serum is perfect.

Although I love all the natural ingredients in Rose Phyto3 Babchi Serum, I also love that the serum has preservatives so it doesn’t go bad in minutes like some other natural products can!

Ingredients: Distilled Water, Organic Aloe Barbadensis, Organic Rosehip (Rosa rubiginosa) seed oil, Organic Raspberry (Rubus ideadeas) seed oil, Organic Evening primrose (Oenothera biennis) oil, 4% Organic Bakuchiol (Psoralea corylifolia), 4% Niacinamide (Vit B3), Organic Vit E (Tocopherols), Veg emulsifying wax, Vitamin C (Ascorbyl palmitate), Hyaluronic Acid, Colhibin Peptide, Alpine Rose (Rhododendron ferrugineum), Organic Shea (Butyrospermum Parkii) Butter, and Organic Essential oils of:
Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens), Palmarosa (Cymbopogon martini), Frankincense (Boswella serrata), Rose (Rosa Damascena). glucose oxidase and enzyme lactoperoxidase (preservative)

BTW, for the true natural rose lover, Peak Scent’s Organic Rose collection also includes Facial Cleaner, Cleansing Milk, Toner, Facial Oil, and Facial Cream. Check ’em out here.

Eclat Rose Water

For the rose lover, starting and ending the day with Eclat Rose Water toner is wonderful, like being in a garden. I reviewed this product back in June 2023 (here), and I enjoy this toner so much I am still using it.

Like I wrote last June, I was and am still surprised by how much I love Eclat Rose Water Toner. I think it’s the loveliest rose water I have ever used. Like Peak Scents products, it’s also cruelty-free, vegan, natural, and organic. The natural, light rose scent is hypnotic, calming and delightful. It is so gentle – composed of distilled water and Rosa Damascena, and it makes my skin feel lightly hydrated.

This toner, an astringent, is great for removing the last bits of cleanser and any remaining dirt or makeup as well as cleaning and minimizing pores. Plus, it helps your serum and moisturizer absorb better. Read my review from last June for further details.

Eclat Rose Water Toner is sold on Amazon and Walmart.com.

Hope you have a lovely rose season!

  2. Hi, Allison – I learned from you in the past about the Rose Water. I really enjoy using it to get the last traces of makeup off at night. In one of your posts, you recommended it as a gift for Galentine’s Day. I gifted it to my daughter and she loves it! In fact, she told me that she was looking for a toner at the time so my timing was perfect. This Babchi serum sounds like the best for a sensitive skin person like me, as well as someone who buys organic and collects essential oils. Lol! Once I use up the four serums I have, I definitely want to get one of these. Thanks – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com
