Lilibridge Bags: Women-Owned Company from Boston!

Today I went to Town Hall to pay my property taxes, and then I stopped on the next block in our teeny, tiny downtown to go to the Post Office. One of the earrings that I bought from Chan Luu a year ago (reviewed here) broke when I cleaned the tarnish off with a cloth. Boo! I’m not sure how long the warranty is/was, but the earrings are not quite a year old. Chan Luu will repair it for free, but I had to send the pair back to them in LA. Fortunately, the earrings don’t weigh much, and it didn’t cost much to mail them back.

I noticed that there appeared to be a new shop among the tiny collection of shops downtown. The colorful items in the window caught my eye as I drove past on my way to Town Hall, but I couldn’t tell what kind of items they were. The name of the shop is The Copper Shed, so I thought maybe it was a gardening store??

As I walked up the stairs, a woman came out. I went into the shop, and a woman who worked there starting talking to me as if I were the woman who I saw leaving the store, lol. I looked around the store and saw that it was a women’s boutique carrying colorful upscale clothing, accessories, and shoes. The woman who was talking to me realized I was the wrong person, but she changed lanes and told me that the shop of closed on Mondays and Tuesdays (it was Tuesday). Nevertheless, she invited me to look around. Honestly, shopping wasn’t on my agenda because I had come directly from working in my garden and looked a mess.

Of course, I cruised around the small shop and perused some of the merchandise. They carry Printfresh brightly-colored, print, cotton nightshirts that I had seen online and wondered about. Very cute, but pricey. On display at the front were several block-printed, long-sleeved cotton shirts, a style that is having a moment this summer. I tried on one of the shirts with a gorgeous print in a perfect peachy-pink, but it was clearly made for a much taller woman. Boo.

Next, I was stopped by a large-ish canvas zippered bag, 12″ wide x 8″ high that looked like a very big makeup bag. It was covered by red hearts, my favorite.

Although I certainly do not need any more makeup bags, I thought it would make a nice clutch bag if I didn’t feel like carrying a purse. I was not familiar with the brand, Lilibridge, but the bag very well-made and lined with a raspberry cotton lining. It’s difficult for me to pass up anything with hearts, so I went home with my Lilibridge bag.

I looked up Lilibridge Bags online, and I discovered that the company was based in Boston, founded in 2019 by women. They started the business with a beach bag in 5 different designs created by Vanessa Douglas, a co-founder, whose original artwork is the hallmark of the brand. Her fun, vibrant prints are inspired by her love of the Bahamas, the ocean and East Coast beach life. The name of the business is a homage to Douglas’ great-great-grandfather, Lilibridge King Blood – quite a mouthful!

Lilibridge prints remind me of Lilly Pulitzer if the brand relocated to New England! The colors are often bright, and the designs are beachy, summery, or nautical. I was right – the bag I bought is called the “Lilibridge clutch“! And I paid a few dollars more for it at The Copper Shed than they charge online, but the heart design wasn’t available so I did the right thing! In addition to the clutch, Lilibridge Bags also sell:

The modern and fun designs are printed onto natural, cotton canvas. The products are moderately priced, ranging from $38 to less than $200.

If you are looking for a Mother’s Day gift, a graduation gift, birthday gift, or something for yourself for the summer season, take a look at Lilibridge Bags!
