Mulberry: Deep Berry Shade of City Lips for Fall

I Bought This - Affiliate links Retail Sample/Gift

When there’s a sale at City Beauty, that’s when I do my shopping. A couple of weeks ago, they were promoting my favorite lip balm and lip plumper, City Lips, at 40% off plus a free colored City Lips. Of course, I bought a back up Clear City Lips for my stash.

Though they started out giving a mini City Lips in one shade, they ended up giving out a full size City Lips in Mulberry which is what I received. I looked at the deep, dark berry shade that I would describe as burgundy-purple and said to myself, Whoa! This is way darker than the mauve that is my everyday “go to” shade. But free is free, so I gave it a shot.

Prior to Mulberry, I had not tried any of the City Lips opaque shades. In the past, I had Sundiego, a translucent peachy-pink with shimmer and Pink Nude.

But I am all about opaque glosses that I can wear instead of lipstick, and Mulberry is completely opaque. Yes! The deep berry shade portends the coming of autumn, IMO. It would look especially nice worn with makeup. I can see it with a lavender or grey eye look or even neutrals where the lip would be the star. I have a few cashmere sweaters – mauve, grey and navy – that would work very well with this cool-toned shade.

It goes on thick and rich, like all City Lips plumping glosses. And it makes my lips look fuller and glossy. It is not overly sticky or a hair magnet. It stays put for hours and hours if I’m not eating and drinking a lot. I wouldn’t wear this under a mask, but then I have few, if any, lipsticks that don’t make a mess when I’m wearing a mask.

Like all of the City Lips, it is the greatest lip balm. My lips thank me every time I wear City Lips.

Although it doesn’t settle into lip lines and it is easy to apply with a doe-foot applicator, I think I may need to either wear lipliner with it or get a magnifying mirror that magnifies a lot. As I’ve mentioned before, since my cataract surgery, I just can’t see close up anymore so I often “color outside the lines” because I can’t see the lines! 😀

Mulberry is a shade that I probably would not have tried on my own, but now that I have it, I will enjoy it for the variety it provides. And it makes me want to get a tube of City Lips Red Velvet, an opaque and gorgeous-looking bright, warm red. When’s the next City Lips sale?

City Lips is great for thin lips, dry lips and wrinkled lips. The regular price for a tube of City Lips is $35. Just a reminder: City Lips and City Beauty are cruelty-free.

BTW, if you wish to purchase anything at City Beauty when there isn’t a sale, you can use my code: NEVERSAYDIEBEAUTY and save 10%. But for the past few months and going forward for at least a while, City Beauty is offering 15% off with the code SKIN15 in order to make up for potentially slower delivery times due to COVID-19 issues.
