BeautyKind, A New Way to Shop, and What I Got

BeautyKind, a new online beauty products retailer, recently launched. What makes them different is they give back 5% to either one of the charities that they support or to the charity of your choice. So you can shop for your favorite beauty products and support a great cause as well. Lovely! Plus they carry an interesting assortment of well-known prestige beauty brands ranging from butterLONDON, Borghese, Ahava, Erno Laszlo, GlamGlow, La Vanila among others to other brands that I haven’t found in stores like Gorgeous Cosmetics, Belmacz etc.

One of my sister beauty bloggers, Jess Scull of Love For Lacquer is a Brand Ambassador for BeautyKind, and she gave many of us the opportunity to order some products for free in order to try out the site and spread the word about BeautyKind and their mission. You can be sure I jumped on that! In fact, word spread so fast, that many of their products are temporarily sold out, but they’re working hard on getting that situation rectified over the next few days.

Promotional Product

I decided to support one of BeautyKind’s charities, Soles4Souls, that provides shoes to needy kids. Very very nice.

The site is easy to shop. The products are arranged by category (makeup, skincare, beauty tools etc.) and sub-category (e.g. lips, cheeks, foundation etc.) I decided on makeup since I have plenty of skincare, and I didn’t think about makeup brushes. I looked through the brands and products, and because this was a gift, I wanted to try something new, from brands I wasn’t familiar with. A beautiful ocean blue (blue-grey) eyeliner pencil from Gorgeous Cosmetics caught my eye. Unfortunately, the shade was sold out but the seemingly green-grey was in stock, so I selected that. Next, the packaging on what I thought was Aura cream highlighter by Belmacz caught my eye. It appeared to be a peachy pink highlighter, and because I love cream anything and love that shade, I went for it.

Although I chose the free standard shipping that comes with an order over $50, I must have lucked out because I ordered early and there was a huge crowd of orders after mine. I received my package 2 days later. Woohoo! Here it is

Gorgeous Cosmetics Eyeliner Pencil

green eyeliner pencil

In person, the eyeliner pencil shade, Miss G, is an olive green, but that’s fine. I wanted a shade that I don’t own, and that’s what I got. I like the shade a lot.

olive green eyeliner pencil

It is not waterproof which is fine, but it isn’t the most long lasting. In fact, the swatch that I made on my arm rubbed off within an hour. Over primer on my eyelids, it lasted a much longer time (6 hours) except for the little winged portion that disappeared after a short time. I’ll try making sure I have primer in that winged area next time.

It’s creamy, applies easily, and was designed to be blended out, if you like, to create a smokey eye.

The pencil is smaller than some full-size liners I own at 0.4 oz/1.15 g, is made somewhere in the European Union and is priced at $22. I’m happy with the eyeliner  😛

Belmacz Aura

I fell in love with the beautiful plexiglas container that the Aura comes in. It’s just so pretty!

Belmacz Aura makeup

Then, the name AURA – 24CT GOLD LEAF & CRUSHED PEARL BALM (PALE PINK) sparked my imagination. Who wouldn’t want gold leaf and crushed pearls in a highlighter?

When I opened the container, I saw what appears to be gold flecks that must be the 24K gold leaf in the product, but they don’t seem to come out of the container. So I guess they’re for decoration? Anyway, I swatched Aura and nothing much shows up so there’s no point in showing you the swatch. It is the palest of pale pinks and totally blends into my skin. Where are the pearls and the gold???

face makeup, cheek makeup

I went to the Belmacz website (it’s a UK company BTW) to look up the product and this is how it’s described: “an ultra-fine powder composed of crushed pearls — a natural beauty treatment which softens the skin and enhances its natural luster.” Hmm, that doesn’t sound like a highlighter. I assumed it was a highlighter because it was categorized under Cheek Makeup. Instead of being a highlighter, Belmacz makes it sound like more of an all-over face glowy product sort of like the MAC LE Riri Woo Face Base but with even less color. I put some on and it made my face look kind of oily-shiny. Truth be told, if I had purchased this product with my own money, I would return it. But it wasn’t BeautyKind’s fault that I chose a dog of a product, so I’ll keep it and play around with it some more.

BeautyKind goes on to describe the product as: “A soft pink hue. An ultimate skin booster, suitable for every skin tone. The emollient formula glides seamlessly onto the cheeks, lips, lids and also works as an effective lip balm and instant brow-fixer.”

The price for this little 5g pot is $29. I just tried it on my lips as a balm, and it has a bit of a floral scent.

All in all, I definitely had fun shopping on BeautyKind. I think their brand and product selection is amazing. It’s so easy to shop the site. The service I got was beyond incredible, though I don’t think I’d always expect to get my order in two days using the free shipping option. The fact that BeautyKind supports charities with every purchase definitely enhances my feelings about the company. Take a look here, and see what catches your eye!

  15. I chose Soles4Souls too! Though I am still waiting for a shipping confirmation, and it’s been since Wednesday. We’re leaving on a 17 day trip soon, and I really wanted to get the products before then. Oh well, it seems like a great site though!

  16. Laura says:

I got my order 2 days later too. I choose Lip Aid which is awesome for my chapped lips. It looks kinda like honey from the tube but in no way is it sticky and so so moisturizing. I would definitely repurchase. And because I love LAVANILA from previous testing at Sephora I got the roller ball trio. Thank you so much Allison! As you di,d I went with Soles4Soles also. I thought it was a clever name for a charity. Oh! by any chance did you happen to get a blush in the mail today? 😉

    1. Laura says:

Soles4Souls I meant but my goof would have been a good name too. ha ha

    2. Laura, I just got in from a marathon gardening, AKA weeding, session (3.5 hours of digging in the dirt), and I check the mail and what a surprise!! You absolutely shouldn’t have done it, but I absolutely adore it!! Perfect shade, a brand I’ve been dying to try, and soooo adorable! I sent you an email a few minutes ago. Thank you again, but so totally unexpected, unnecessary etc. But I will think of you when I wear it!! On the topic of BeautyKind, I’m glad to hear that you got yours in 2 days too! And what great selection you made. The Lip Aid sounds like heaven. I’ll put it on my to try list when I finish up what I’ve got in my stash. And I love LAVANILA too! I recently found my rollerball in a suitcase I had forgotten about, and it was so great to come across it again! And yes Soles4Souls just jumped right out at me too!
